Beautiful twin sisters
After a photoshoot with Anne we have talked about how great it would be to capture both her and her twin sister Emma together, especially with a big birthday around the corner. The problem was we are in Banbridge, and Emma lives abroad. The opportunity arose when Emma came over to celebrate Christmas with her sister and the family. I finally got to meet her, and found it fascinating to see someone I know in a stranger! Well we are not strangers now, and I loved the session: we had some tears, and lots of hugs, and I'm very proud of the photos we created!
I'll let Anne explain the rest...
Or could they?
In 2010 when the Twin Research Unit in London asked us to provide blood samples for one of their studies we agreed to do so, and asked if they would ALSO perform a zygosity (dna) test to find out if we were identical. When the results came back with the 99.9999999% probability that we were identical it was far more emotional than either of us could possibly have imagined.
Knowing we had once been the same tiny cluster of cells (after spending years trying to convince ourselves we hadn't!) definitely changed our relationship.
Finding out you're not quite who you thought you were at the age of 34 is pretty odd, but it also felt like a new beginning. It brought us a new perspective and showed us how special our connection really is.
So, we decided to gift ourselves (and each other) a session with Dagmara to mark our 40th year. We wanted to capture this milestone in our life together, in a way that appreciated our many differences and similarities. Dagmara fulfilled her brief perfectly, and I know we will treasure these images - as well as the relationship they capture - for the rest of our lives.'
